Screwed up sound Empty Screwed up sound

Post by sparkvoltage Thu Jul 21, 2011 10:20 pm

So yesterday night, i accidently ripped my headphone wires outta the sound socket/hole when i rushed to get the phone and the headphones hit the ground pretty hard.

The wires were still intact and fine though. When i tried to use the headphones again, the right sound was gone. I thought that it was the headphone that was damaged, but it when i plugged in my ipod earphones the same thing happened, the right sound was gone.

And, my ipod headphones work perfectly well on my ipod. I decided to connect the headset to my ipod and tested the sound and to my surprise, the sound worked on both sides.

So it turns out it's just the computer sound inputs that are screwed up. And the thing i noticed was that the jack was alot looser when inserting it into the sound hole.

Anyway to fix this, cause now no matter how new the headphone may be, ill only be hearing from one side of it.

Probably broke a solder joint on the connector. I'd fix it, if it was mine Razz

Don't most PC's now have 2 input/output port thingies?

Or are you on a laptop...

I'm on a laptop but it does have 2 sound ports. What baffles me is that the 2nd one is exactly the same. It only allows sound through one side as well.

Though i fiddled around with the thing and i found out that if i insert the jack only halfway into the port, the sound works.

Yea so I guess short of fixing it yourself or getting a new computer...follow Daddy's advice;

Alright so yea, I think my best option would be to get the usb connector. No sense in getting a brand new comp when everything else is perfectly fine.

Thanks for the advice and help guys. Appreciate it.
