Re: computer help
Link for the computer for specs please. I can't seem to find it in google.
Gil said it. Make a custom, buy all the parts and build it. You know in like BestBuy how they have gaming computers selling for $1000 and stuff? NOT WORTH IT. You look at the specs, they give you 8 gb ram and 1 TB Harddrive, quad core probably at like 2.33 Ghz. "4 gb is all you need." you know how you lag in game cause you have too many programs running? That's not as much RAM related as it is processor related (unless I'm mistaken). It's no wonder the computer costs so much. I probably have a better computer and mine costed about $600 for everything. Custom computer is so much better cause it just fits your own preference. Later in the future, you can keep the case and probably just get a better video card and processor and possibly motherboard and you're good to go. Stock computers you'll have to buy another one sooner or later; there's no avoiding it and it'll cost more than just replacing a few parts on your custom built computer.
IF you are going with a custom computer, I suggest Newegg.com. Best place for it, I think Micro Center is good too. Why not buy stuff from stores? It costs A LOT more. Newegg has certain offers anyway and you can sometime get S&H free so it's good.
I don't really know TOO much, just more than usual but the real person to go to is Daddy. Wait for him to read and he'll tell you what to get.

Re: computer help
Thank you Divide for the compliment..
Yes. it is better to build it yourself..you'll save money and you'll know exactly what parts you have. I would recommend custom build system IF you know what your doing..I'm not sure how computer savvy you are. But if you've taken apart, replaced computer hardware and reinstalled the Operating System, installed system drivers and have a good understanding of how the computer operates, then you can do a custom build yourself. If not, then I wouldn't recommend doing the first one without someone who has done it before. It's just that there's alot of things that can go wrong and you can end up frying something, with just static electricity you could short out your RAM, Video card, etc..Then you have to worry about installing Windows on your system and having everything optimized just right. Sometimes just a little bad luck and you can get very frustrated when things aren't working correctly...
But with that said, there's a couple places that I go to purchase parts..
Newegg.com
Geeks.com
If your looking at going with barebone systems..that one that you said is really good it has a Quad Core Processor AMD thats a good processor for gaming. You'll want 4GB RAM if your going to be running the Windows 7 32-bit OS, as the 32-bit will only read up to a max of 4GB. If you decide on getting the 64-bit then you can go past the 4GB range. Not to many programs are coded to run 64-bits right now, but it does help in program swaping. Also, 64-bit drivers will not work with 32-bit drivers, so you'll need to make sure that there's available drivers for your hardware.
Do you have the specs on that system you were looking at? If its a barebone, Does it come with a Video card, RAM or Hard drive? Another thing that comes into play is how much money do you have to budget for this system, that will also greatly help in finding parts for your computer? There's a big difference from a 500 and 1500 for the stuff you can get...

Haha well, what Daddy basically said is, kinda hard to dumb down really. Exactly which parts are confused about?

Re: computer help
Palacios, send a link of the computer you're planning on buying. We want to see the specs to see if it's a good comp or not.
All Daddy really said is that the computer palacios said is pretty good for gaming, quad core processor which is great for gaming. and he's talking about the specs of the computer and what it should have; 4 gb ram if you decide on Windows 7 32 bit because 4 gb ram is all it can run on. And yeah, he's just talking about how some things won't work on 64 bit versus 32, stuff like that.

Affect it? A quad core will be perfect for fraps, you probably won't experience that much la with 2.8 Ghz Quad. iTunes shouldn't lag at all so o-o Uhm, I don't see a graphics card on this...wtf? I'll wait until Daddy takes a look at this..

Re: computer help
OK..it looks like the barebone is just that barebone..for the 424.00 you'll still need to add RAM, Hard drive, DVD player and a OS...For the most budget cost on thier i came up with 844.00 and these are the items I added..
Video Card Geforce 240 PCI Express 1GB - Direct X 10 and pretty descent...
4GB 8500 - lower end memory speed but good enough
160GB Hitachi SATA hard drive 7200 - decent...minumum size
LiteOn DVD recorder
Windows 7 Home Premuim 32-bit
So thats about another 400 to complete the system..with this setup you shouldn't have any problems playing Combat arms...If your wondering what you should get better if you can...its the video card and RAM..

Re: computer help
LOL dude, I have a 9800 GT and I'm fine. A 240 will be nice..at a quad core 2.8 GHz...I'm jealous. Hard Drive is low for me, as I've used up 450 gb of my HD already (though I do have tons of games on the computer so I guess it depends on you as a person) No complaints about the other stuff though. You'll get a pretty nice computer with that setup. Man...all the stuff I can play with that setup
(P.S. He CAN just get a cracked version of Windows 7 -cough cough- save some money)
Yeah, it'll be nice with those.

Re: computer help
Well..I know the hard drive is small, but it'll work well enough for CA and if he needs more space he can always add a external hard drive...BUT if you wanted to change something now..then maybe instead of adding more RAM you can go with a bigger drive...
LOL! and I think it might be better if you get a legit version of 7..to many problems might come up if you try a "HOT" version (like the dreaded WGA)..

lol since im also thinking of buying a comp it'd suck if i bought one before u made ur decision.
itunes does make me lag however. when u turn it on before a game then ur mouse will lag and it'll feel like ur sensitivity is on 1. u have to do something with it i think, like start itunes before u even open combat. sucks
comp looks nice.
