stumbled onto something..
since im bored at what is now.. 7:23 AM... i went onto the CA site's forums where theres a thread talking about what stuff could be in this continuing maintenance. they're talking about how nexon is going to decrease the lag. i find this extremely unlikely since two towers (practically only map i play) has been getting worse (lag-wise) for the past couple of months. could be my shitty comp slowly dying. xD or it could be the game since tt is quite an extensive map.
then EVIDENCE: >:O

uhhhhh ftw? didnt understand half of what was being said in the article but seems like its gonna decrease lag. wheres daddy when u need him..
from what i gather its gonna speed processes up and not the game itself. so maybe like when nexon does a maintenance at the end of each month it wont take as long. or i could be totally wrong and it could help laggers. :O dont get ur hopes up its nexon. -.-

it'll decrease network lag (rubberbanding, tap-lagging, and when your body gets stuck on a corner to others but instead you are somewhere else)
NOT FPS lag

Probably won't help anything.. I do agree on thinking the lag has been getting slowly worse..

..DING...DING...DING..DING...
Okay..Class is in Session..SIT DOWN!
For those Interested..here's how the Internet Speed Works:
A T-1 line is the name for a phone-company supplied data connection that moves data at about 1.5 mb per second. That used to be considered fast, but is not anymore - many cable modems go faster than a T-1 line.
T-3 is usually the next step up - it moves data at around 43-45 megabytes per second - that's pretty fast. That's about twice as fast as a cable modem runs.
The next step up is OC (Optical Carrier) data lines:
OC = Speed
OC-1 = 51.85 Mbps
OC-3 = 155.52 Mbps <----- they might have had this or something lower b4..
OC-12 = 622.08 Mbps
OC-24 = 1.244 Gbps
OC-48 = 2.488 Gbps
OC-192 = 9.952 Gbps <-------- this is what they just got..
OC-255 = 13.21 Gbps
what they're saying is that yes..it "should" reduce the lag in all thier titled games. BUT!! The speed in the game is only as good as the coding of the game!! That means that if they have bad coding in the game, it doesn't matter how much bandwith they have, the game will always run shitty (which is what I'm suspecting). Whenever they do the switch over to these Level 3 company the game should run a bit more smoothly. An yes, you'll be able to tell, especially when playing Two Towers..They won't give over all the bandwith to just the games tho, they still need maybe 5GB or more for other uses.
In reality tho..the internet is running out of bandwith space!! Unless the the United States lay down new lines faster and increase our Data Centers, we will end up laggin in everything..from playing CA, surfing the Internet all the way down to just checking our emails or IM...The largest problems that caused us to start losing bandwith started with streaming audio and video (YouTube and the likes), Torrents and Peer-to-Peer programs (LimeWire, etc)..once they started that it gobbles up alot of bandwith and with more and more people using it at such a fast pace. I'm gonna write a book called "How YouTube Killed The Internet"...

Daddy you're a boss.
Any homework for today? 0_o
And this might be a good thing. However, given all the facts, we still must consider this: it's Nexon. Who the hell knows lol.

Re: stumbled onto something..
ty daddy for clearing this up, and from what u said, im starting to get worried over this "internet apocalypse" thing. anyways, u mentioned something about the coding. is it possible for nexon to change their coding to something better (excuse my lack of tech knowledge) or is the coding of the game permanent?

No..the coding isn't permanent..atleast I don't think so..If you remember when we all first played CA and TT..it was smooth as silk which says that thier base code is ok. The more content you add, then more new code you need to add into the game..So as they add new stuff like levels, mods, characters, bots, anti-hacking, etc.. they alter the total program, but they still have the base code. They can get the lag back down again (if it is a coding problem) by either removing some of the content, recoding the stuff added in or streamline and recompress the program all together again, the later is what I'm pretty sure they do when they do their maintenance and that could be one reason why it takes so long..the recompile the software after they add-in stuff. The main problem is I think they went to big to fast..they added alot of stuff last year and to me bloated the game. The other thing that I hate is BOTS..they really make the server lag. With that cabin fever and fireteam mod they added, I almost guarenteed that that is what laggs alot of the servers now. I remember that before Fireteam the first BOT mod, TT, wasn't lagging as bad, for me atleast..You can really feel the bad lag especially if your system is older..

Re: Stumbled onto Something
Nexon is trying to get rid of lag? I find that highly intoxicating. I have a good computer and yet there is sometimes lag for me and that sucks. When I was at the ultra kill, trying for a fantastic, stupid lag, I hate you, sigh. When will nexon get it right?
Re: stumbled onto something..
always lag for me... use to it haha
but i hope they making fps lag a lot less!!!

Re: stumbled onto something..
Nexon will find out how to make the lag stop and create some NX item that you will have to buy and use to make it stop. just wait...

I do not think they are using the 10GB line..Its laggy as hell..I would say worse than before..They might have upgraded thier fiber switches and other network stuff..maybe for the next maint when I think they'll do the switch over to the 10GB line..

Thank you for the compliement..there would be a few things if I was working for them that I would check, a very, very simple check..is..when they check to make sure that the game run smoothly, they'll usually run the game on thier own network, like on thier workstations and servers and will run the game on thier LAN (Local Area Network) and maybe even WAN (Wide Area Network) that might be connected between US and Europe..which is fine but they really never see the lag because they are all "connected" to the same "connection and backbone... What they really need to do is to have "beta" testers, test the game before every maintenance, located around the world, so they can really check to see if the game is lagging..
Re: stumbled onto something..
Haha that'd be nice but might drag out the maintenance longer. Then again, I'd rather wait longer to get some better results than wait less but lag like crazy.
I didn't really check it fully but they should already have the level 3 ip thing right? People are still getting stuck to corners, especially me and I never did before this maintenance..I got called a hacker a few times for flying and OPKing or something =.=
I really should read up on these kinda stuff more, thanks for all that info Daddy

It don't "feel" like they switched over to the 10GB connection..If they did they really need to re-configure it properly or get thier money back..LOL!
