Newer music topic -- because I'm obsessed.

So, I'm obsessed with music. And so I want to fuel my addiction. I've found that over the years my music taste has expanded far beyond what I thought I would like. And maybe we can all expand our views and make the world seem like a musical paradise.

I really enjoy orchestral pieces now. Not so much 15th-18th century classical, but modern pieces are very interesting. Modern baroque is strangely compelling, though. :O

Heavy metal has its ups and downs with me. If there's a hint of thrash, I won't like it. (strong snare on upbeats >_<) I'm not especially fond of screaming yet, but I've gotten used to growling, lol.

Techno has grown on me too. xD Not that crazy techno, but stuff with electric guitars and some synths can create some very unique colors.

I also love music that is complex and creates really intricate rythms -- say a bass line and a main melody on one instrument, besides a piano.

Piano music can be really nice at times, too. Although I really like sad songs, minor intonations. it makes me excited like a little school girl.

-I play Bass Clarinet, the instrument you SHOULD'VE seen that those two guys were playing. Basically all of the videos showed favorite artists.
-Marc Mellits was that guy with the mustache always staring into your soul. hurr.
-Amon Amarth is a pretty cool death metal band, i think, even though they're not revered as such because they don't sing about death. BUT they have one of the best growls I've ever heard, even from a typical death metal group.
-Blue Stahli - awesome.
-ES. Posthumus - EPIC epic music.
-Isaac Shepard - beautiful piano playing.
-System of A Down - Love how most of their songs make pretty much no sense.
-Hans Zimmer - OMG I forgot to show some of his stuff. But he made so many movie themes. Pirates of the Caribbean, The Dark Knight, Gladiator, CRYSIS 2, MW2, And so many more. This guy is the master.

I still don't really like rap, or hip hop. There might be some exceptions out there, but none come to mind. I've found that the more involved someone is in music, the wider their tastes are, and I feel that hip hop artists are really amateur-ish. Nothing really complicated, generic sounding beats -- most of them sound the same to me actually, etc. But I'm still open to listening to their stuff. Andy Samberg and his group write hip hop and everyone likes that stuff. So yeah.

Seriously, ANYTHING. I won't think any different of someone. I'll just criticize the artist.

he is. setting the example for newer generation composers. that transformer song i showed a while ago was by steve jablonsky. I originally thought it was by zimmer, but apparently they're friends. and their music style is similar. :DD

that reggae was so awesome. it was all jazzy in the beginning and i wasn't expecting that beat to come in. awesome.

and that japanese one was pretty too. I laugh to myself when i hear things that sound cool... so there were a couple parts in that sad one where i was laughing and the people were crying... xP

LOL! yea..the tunes are catchy here..also, when these local groups do their music videos it's so different then the big name ones as about 99.9 percent of our local singers all shoot their videos, at the local high school, in someones back yard, at the beach, at the local mall..LOL!! These groups are pretty big here, but no one else heard of them outside of Hawaii. We have alot of good music here, I'll look for some more of my other favs..and the other thing is that our beat here is different than that from the mainland also..

yeah, the only reggae that anyone on the east coast really thinks of is from the bahamas. that's really impressive; professional groups like that can't make their full potential because their farther away from everyone else.

but yeah, that sound they made... so relaxing... i don't think i've ever had that kind of a feeling from a song before. probably because i haven't listened to reggae recently, but that was really cool. the diverse sounds are astounding.

yeah, he's very talented. you don't see many people that hold musicianship in such a high esteem as he does. and as far as his songs go, i don't have a favorite of his, they're all equally great to me.

Stay Crunchy, Disorganized Fun, and Guiyar Sound are absolutely amazing.
